The Challenge
Every year on the first Tuesday of November everyone at work gathers around, beer in hand and watches the Melbourne cup; the race that literally stops a nation! With the first 4 payout usually the largest in the year and with a record payout of almost $1.5m; what if we could predict the first 4 horses in order?
Approach
Data is key! Lots of data! Us Aussies love a punt and horse racing. Google horse racing Australia and you get over 100 million results! Our aim is to get every piece of information available and build a robust self training model to accurately and precisely predict the first 4 horses in the 2020 Melbourne cup.
